What impacts sexual health?

To keep your sex life functioning well, your body needs estrogen, a hormone produced by the ovaries that helps keep your vaginal skin elastic, moist, and thick. If your estrogen production is interrupted due to pregnancy, menopause, or imbalanced hormones, your vaginal health can suffer

Low estrogen levels can cause numerous changes, such as:

The tissue fragility, dryness, laxity, and loss of muscle tone that aging and childbirth can bring to the vaginal region can make sexual intercourse less pleasurable and even painful.

How can I take charge of my sexual health?

At MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers, our providers know every woman is different. That’s why we offer multiple options for taking charge of your sexual health. Here are some of our patients’ favorite sexual health boosters:

Vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty is a surgery that tightens the vagina. During this surgical procedure, your provider removes excess vaginal tissues and repairs separated or weak muscles in the vagina. The result is a tighter vaginal canal, which can lead to more pleasurable sex.

If you opt for vaginoplasty, plan for 1-2 weeks of downtime and up to 8 weeks of recovery time, during which you may not use tampons or have sexual intercourse. Risks include bleeding, pain or discomfort, and infection.

G-Spot injections

About 2 inches inside your vagina is the “G-Spot,” a section of sensitive nerve tissue. When the G-Spot is stimulated during sexual activity, women experience heightened sexual response and powerful orgasms.

For some women, however, stimulating this area during intercourse is challenging. G-Spot injections enhance the area to improve sexual enjoyment. These injections use a dermal filler to plump up the tissue, increasing its size and sensitivity.

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a type of vaginal rejuvenation that involves surgery to your vaginal lips. While it’s usually performed on the labia minora (inner lips), it can also work to enhance the outer lips (labia majora).

Most patients who choose labiaplasty do so to improve the size of their labia, making them more symmetrical or to create a “tucked in” look. A small number of patients with a longer labia may experience discomfort during sex because of rubbing or chafing.

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure that takes about an hour, and you can expect to be sore and swollen after the surgery is complete. The providers at MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers recommend at least one week of downtime and avoiding sexual intercourse and strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks after your surgery.

Clitoral hood and mons pubis reductions

Some women have excess skin covering their clitoris, making it more difficult to experience orgasms. Others have a large mons pubis area, the fatty external area from which your pubic hair grows.

The team at MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers can reduce either or both regions. During a clitoral hood reduction, your provider excises the excess folds of skin, frequently in combination with a labiaplasty. If you opt for a mons pubis reduction, your provider removes excess fat and tissue from the pubic mound.
