Other Reasons You Get Breast Augmentation

Are you thinking about getting breast augmentation surgery? If so, you’re in good company. Breast augmentation is a very popular cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States. But popularity alone doesn’t make it the right procedure for you.

At Medweight, Lasers & Wellness Centers in Irvine, California, we understand every patient has different reasons for wanting to change the way their breasts look. Not every patient wants breast augmentation surgery just to have a larger size. Here are some other reasons a patient might want this procedure.

Why do women get breast augmentation surgery?

There isn’t one reason why women get breast augmentation surgery. Women choose to change cup sizes for a variety of reasons. Some reasons you might consider breast augmentation include:

1. You want to feel more confident

Small or unusual looking breasts may make you self-conscious and uncomfortable. You can improve the way you feel about yourself and boost your confidence. Among other things, breast augmentation surgery can reshape your breasts, increase their size, and improve the position of your nipples.

2. You’ve had medically necessary breast surgery

If you’ve had medically necessary surgery, such as a mastectomy or lumpectomy, the look and feel of your breasts has changed. You can choose breast augmentation as part of your reconstructive process

3. You’ve lost breast volume

Have you had a baby and noticed that after pregnancy, your perky, firm breasts are a thing of the past? Even if you’ve never had children, aging can cause the same changes to breast tissue. Breast augmentation can restore lost volume and give you perkier, younger-looking breasts.

4. You have differently sized breasts

If you’re one of the more than 50% of women with different size breasts, breast augmentation surgery can help. The procedure can also correct breasts that are shaped differently to give you a more symmetrical figure.

5. You’re ready to live a healthier lifestyle

Breast augmentation can help women feel better about their bodies. This, in turn, may help them feel better on the inside. And this may inspire women to make healthier choices, such as eating right and exercising regularly.

What are my breast implant choices?

At MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers, our team offers three types of breast implants: saline implants, silicone implants, and form-stable or “gummy bear” implants. Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water during the procedure. Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel.

Form-stable implants are similar to silicone implants, but they’re made with a thicker silicone gel. This allows them to hold their shape and provide a sloping profile while feeling natural to the touch.

How do I get started with breast augmentation?

If you’re wondering if breast augmentation is right for you, it’s important to consult with an expert, such as Allan Wu, MD, FACOG, FACS. He combines his expertise with your unique goals to help create a customized plan for you.

Dr. Wu also evaluates your medical history to ensure you’re a candidate for surgery and takes time to address questions and concerns you may have about the implants or the surgical procedure.
