How to Care for Your Skin After Laser Hair Removal

It’s February, and spring and summer may feel far away. But here in sunny Southern California, the warmer weather is never too far away. That means it’ll be time to show off your skin before you know it.

If you’re tired of endlessly tweezing, waxing, plucking, or shaving away unwanted facial and body hair, our aesthetic expert, Shonda Chase, FNP, and the team at MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers in Irvine, California, offer the best treatment available in laser hair removal.

Our team selected the new Splendor X Laser system to accomplish twice as much hair removal in half the treatment time, ensuring you get the best results possible. To help optimize your laser hair removal results, it’s important to take key steps to care for your skin after your treatment.

Keep reading to learn how the Splendor X Laser system works and what you can do after your session to get the smoothest, silkiest skin!

What is laser hair removal with the Splendor X Laser?

The Splendor X Laser system uses advanced technology to safely and effectively destroy the protein cells in the targeted hair follicles. It’s these cells that give your hair nourishment, and by destroying them, you stop the follicles’ ability to produce hair.

Your surrounding skin and tissues aren’t harmed during this highly targeted treatment, and as a result, you’re able to have most areas of your body treated for laser hair removal, including your:

While the Splendor X system is highly effective, laser hair removal only works when your hair follicles are in a growth cycle. Each follicle has its own schedule, so some are in the growth phase while others are at rest, meaning you’ll need several treatments over time to treat all hair in the targeted area.

Your MedWeight, Lasers & Wellness Centers provider will create a custom treatment plan for you, but on average, patients need 6-8 treatments. The exact number of treatments you’ll need and how long each will last will vary based on several factors, including the area being treated, the amount of hair needing to be removed, the color of your hair, and your skin tone.

Most sessions take only minutes, and even big regions, such as your chest or back, usually fit into a lunch hour. Because the Splendor X Laser system prevents new hair growth, results usually last, and any regrowth is usually lighter and thinner, making it easy to laser away with a quick touch-up treatment.

How do I care for my skin after my laser hair removal treatment?

Once your Splendor X Laser treatment is finished, it’s time to pay special attention to your skin. Immediately following treatment, your skin may feel a little sensitive to the touch, slightly warm, or even mildly irritated.

These side effects usually resolve in a day or so, but you can help speed the healing process and avoid discomfort by following these guidelines after your laser hair removal session:

As mentioned, after 1-2 days, any sensitivity or irritation you experience after treatment should subside. However, be sure to continue to minimize sun exposure for at least one week, then wear sunscreen whenever you head outside.

Besides these general rules, do know that your provider will give you specific guidelines based on your treatment.
